Acadia Leather is dedicated to providing great leather and customer service at reasonable prices while priding ourselves as Made in America.  Leather in all its elements cannot be duplicated, reproduced or matched to the same beauty, versatility or integrity found in our natural products.  We take pride in providing leather that is truly unique to meet the needs of our great customers like you.  Our hope is that our leather will help spark your creativity, imagination and innovation and make all your products a future success.   

 

Acadia Leather is co-located in Hartland, Maine with our affiliated tannery, Tasman Leather Group.  All leathers are chrome tanned prior to arriving at the tannery and a list of our veg re-tanned leathers can be found under our resources page.  Unless otherwise stated (i.e. American Bison, Game, Horse) all of our leathers are cow.  At Acadia Leather we are proud to have leather sides that are from the United States and re-tanned right here in Maine!

EXCHANGES

We only exchange goods if they are damaged.   Naturally occurring or mechanical "imperfections" and marks may appear on the hides produced by hair follicles, scratches, brands, equipment, etc.  Again, we only exchange goods if they are damaged.  In circumstances where you consider that a product is damaged, you should promptly email Acadia Leather customer support at sales@acadialeather.com with details of the product and the damage.

 

Upon receipt of the returned product, we will fully examine it and notify you via e-mail, within a reasonable period of time, whether you are entitled to a replacement as a result of the damage. If you are eligible, we will send you a replacement product.

Refunds do not include any shipping and handling charges shown on the packaging slip or invoice. Shipping charges for all returns must be prepaid and insured by you. You are responsible for any loss or damage to hardware during shipment. We do not guarantee that we will receive your returned item. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable. Any amounts refunded will not include the cost of shipping.

Free Contiguous US Shipping

We are happy to provide Free Contiguous US Shipping. Please note that we ship exclusively via FedEx and they don't ship to PO Boxes, so please make sure that you use a physical shipping address.  

Shipping Outside the Contiguous US 

 For shipping outside the Contiguous US, please contact us at sales@acadialeather.com with the items you would like to purchase and we will tabulate your shipping costs and send you a PayPal invoice via email. Currently online sales are available to Australia, Canada, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. Shipping outside the Contiguous United States requires additional paperwork and attention from our shipping department.  This may add additional shipping time to your delivery. We don't pay any customs or clearance fees. Please note that all shipping costs are adjusted shipping meaning that we reduce the amount it would have cost to ship it within the Contiguous US from what we charge you (online orders shipping is an estimate based on your general location and how much you've ordered, so it may vary from PayPal invoicing). We never charge any handling/other fees.

Sample Tracking

Samples are sent out regular USPS, so unfortunately in most cases tracking will be unavailable. If you haven't received your samples within a week (or however long you think it would take them to reach you from Maine) please reach out via email and we can resend them as they may have gotten lost in the mail.

Is Paypal the only method of payment?

Unfortunately right now we only accept Paypal, but you don't have to have an account to pay through Paypal. If you scroll down past the login info it asks if you'd like to pay via Debit or Credit Card. If you experience any problems with this please contact us and we will do our best to walk you through the process or place the order in your stead.

Stock

We do not stock any leathers that are not specifically asked for to be made at the tannery (our stock items), all our leathers are off lots that could sell at any time. Please find a list of leathers that we hope to keep as stock options below. Please note that although we are planning to keep them as stock options there may be times that we are out of stock between batches and/or they are discontinued due to lack of interest.

How do I get product samples?

Product samples are available per item listed and identified as "sample" under item size. Samples are not available for items that are limited quantity. Samples are around the size of a business card and are to represent overall color/feel of the product (actual product may vary slightly).   

What are your delivery options?

Shipping is done via FedEx Ground and are fixed rates based on shipping measurements and weight. We are based in Maine and the 7-10 business day shipping is an estimate; most orders arrive between 3-4 business days. If you need expedited shipping options please reach out via email and we can try to accommodate.

Are you able to dry split/What is dry splitting?

Dry Splitting means to take some of the flesh side (the back) off of the leather to make it a thinner weight. We do charge a $5 Splitting fee. Splitting does not qualify for Vegetable Tanned leathers. For more info please see "Dry Splitting"

   

Do you have Veg-tanned leather?

The leather that we receive is all chrome based. Our affiliated tannery, Tasman Leather Group, receives chrome wet blue and re-tans the leather with either veg or chrome.  The only true Veg-tanned leathers that we offer for are listed under "Vegetable Leather" and are sourced and shipped from our sister company Thoroughbred Leather in Kentucky.

What does (blank) mean?

If you are unsure of any of the terms that we use please see our Resources tab under more. If you have any questions that are not on this page please let us know and we will let you know (and possibly add it to the website!).

Are your sides struck through and/or what does struck through mean?

Struck through means that the color during the dyeing process goes all the way though the sides, if the leather is not struck through there will be a white/blue line in the middle of the side that might show through on the back in dry splitting or on the edges of products. As our leathers are Overstock, it is not guaranteed that our leathers are struck through and can vary from product to product and can even vary from side to side. If you need your sides to be struck through please reach out to us via email with the product(s) you are interested in and we can check them for you.

Love a product you've gotten but it's no longer available?

You are more than welcome to reach out via email to see if we have a miscellaneous side available that is similar. The other option is that we can connect you with the Tannery to produce lots, but the minimum order quantity is 500sqft (around 25 sides) and the price might be a bit more. The plus with ordering production is that it will be custom made to your specs and requirements.
